Hello from the Daraja Campus in Laikipia County, Kenya!

The Daraja Education Fund (DEF) team – including our Executive Director, John McCue, and Communications Coordinator, Janelle Lamb – arrived on campus last week to join the 3rd member of our team and founder of Daraja Academy, Jenni Doherty. (No, we don’t hire solely on first names that start with ‘J’!) DEF is the California-based non-profit whose mission is to provide Daraja Academy with the funding it needs to sustain itself. We’re here to get to know the Daraja girls, the campus, and the surrounding area better, as we look for further ways to support this incredible school.

The team is staying at Daraja Academy for 18 days to learn as much about the daily campus life here as possible. It’s been a true privilege to work with girls of such incredible intelligence, work-ethic, and kindness. We’re going to miss them so much when we leave.

We’ll return to the U.S. at the end of the month – ready to put everything we have into keeping this very special school funded and thriving!
