My First Day at Daraja

My first day in Daraja Academy was really enjoyable. I was nervous because I had never gone to a boarding school. I told my mother that I was going to be friendly to my fellow students but I had a little tension. As we neared the gate, my heart had already started beating thunderously.

As soon as we were opened the gate, we saw a security guard. He welcomed us happily. He showed us the direction to go to the administration block where we could find the principal of Daraja Academy. I was very happy indeed because I found the students friendly. They overwhelmed me with joy as if they were part of my family. I was so excited to see, hear, and feel that.

I was first scared that I could find the students unfriendly and bulliers but no. The principal welcomed us happily and told us that Daraja Academy was the best school. I felt very happy. My heart had stopped beating as I found the school features good to me. After a short moment, we were taken round the school by some students.

Instead, I was excited when I heard that the school has a very good grade. I felt really nice when I also went in the dormitories. I was shown the school uniform by the matron and it was smart. I pictured myself wearing it and saw that it was gorgeous for me.

Now that I am a Daraja girl, I am feeling good because this is where I will achieve my goals. The school is very interesting. I will work hard and toil for my education so that I will be the one I have always wanted to be: a doctor. I will ensure that this school will help me to achieve my dream.

I will adhere to the school rules to make my life shine brighter. I understand that winners never quit and so I shall never quit until I pass my education and go to a good university which has the same characteristics as Daraja Academy. Until now, I understand that Daraja is the gem that glows so bright and the star that gives much light because I am determined to excel.

Because God is the fountain of knowledge, the spring of virtue and honour, I cherish him and pray that he will guide me through the days I stay here in Daraja and give me wisdom and knowledge, so I can pass in my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.

I feel so relieved to be here in Daraja Academy, school of excellence and determination. It does not matter how slowly I go as long as I do not stop gaining my education here in Daraja Academy.
