In The Spirit Of Kofi Annan

When the 2007 election violence crosses my mind, I realize that peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of understanding. This incident was a shame for our country. Several lives were lost, a lot of property destroyed, many of our future leaders laid in the grave. But a mediator came along known as Kofi Annan, may his soul rest in perfect peace, who brought peace back to Kenya.
After the reconciliation, the position of a Prime Minister was introduced into our country and the country was back to its peaceful state. It has now been 12 years since the incident happened and we are still experiencing conflicts between ourselves. Do we really want Kofi Annan to resurrect and bring to us again? It’s high time Kenyans we learn to live in peace with each other. We cannot achieve our vision of 2030 without the existence of peace in our country. All our aspects of life, social, political and economic, require peace for their developing.
Bringing peace in our country is as easy as first, at a personal level, having peace within. When we see small arguments happening in our surroundings, we should solve them as quickly as possible since these small arguments are what result in the big arguments we experience at a national level and cause massive loss of lives.
Peace is all we need in developing countries. Peace is all we need in Africa. Peace is all we need in Kenya. I will be a peace advocate, je wewe? Let us advocate for peace to promote the spirit of Kofi Annan. Long live Kenya. Long live Africa. God bless Africa.
