Matiba's Death

Kenneth Matiba was a Kenyan politician and activist for democracy. He was the first African indigenous permanent Secretary for Education. For fought for equality in the country. He was born in 1st June, 1932. He lost his presidential election in 1992 to Moi and he became second place. Matiba was held without trial in Kamiti Maximum Prison together with Charles Rubia because he was against President Moi.
Matiba was suffering from stroke before his death because of the torture he had gone through while in prison. He was hospitalised three weeks before his death.
Matiba died on 15th April 2018. He was admitted to Karen Hospital for treatment, but it only got worse day by day. He was cremated on 27th April according to his will at Lang’ata Cemetery.
He has left behind a widow by the name Edith. Matiba and three children; Susan, Raymand, and Julie Matiba. He is remembered as a revolutionary and spirited leader. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
