A New Kenyan System of Education

By Hawo H. (Form 2)

Politics

You can imagine our minister of education changing the system of education from the second world most feared education which was the best to the worst one. You can imagine the exams that we should have to do according to our minister is 70% of it is the co-curriculum achieved and 30% of it is the curriculum and his will be having many disadvantages.

Disadvantages of this system of education will lead to laziness in our students. The second one is that when one finishes his/her school, it should make getting a job very easy. But  when the system changes, it will be very hard for a Kenyan student after school to get a job. I am 99% sure that the person who gets a ‘B’ and above is considered as a genius. But it will be a very strange thing. Many students have disagreed with this system of our minister and the holiday that we were given as a student is not working because during the November and December holiday, many students engage in drug abuse because the holiday is too long. To me, I totally disagree with him and like most of the students in school for approximately about 80% also disagree. This is a sinister act from the minister of education.

Unlike the disadvantages, it is an advantage for some students who are usually slow learners and it will help them to pass these exams and not fall behind in class and their classmates, constantly comparing him/herself with others. It is also an advantage for those students who are high achieving.
