Religion and Belief

Must I be religious to be declared God’s follower?
I keep asking myself why so many people are in religion. For example, I am a Christian, and there are Muslims, Hindus, and all the others. Many people tend to confuse themselves so much. What you believe in matters so much more than what your religion is. You might be saying how religious you are, but if I ask you what you believe in you don’t have a very good answer to give.
What you believe in is so important because being religious is not all about going to church, singing, and dancing. Being religious is what you believe about God. If I was asked today I would say religion should be pulled out. Without religion, believing can still take us so many places. Many people are discriminated by the religion they are in, and that should not be the case.
Someone might say how religious they are, but her actions go totally opposite to what she believes in. For me, I believe in God so much and follow his command, but my religion does not define my love for God. Once, I asked my friend what she thinks about being religious. The answer she gave that was, “because my mom and dad are this religion, so I am.” I thought she might not even have an idea of what her religion is all about and I asked her to tell me what she believes about God. She said, “God is my father and I talk to him through prayers and I do believe that He exists.”
What I am trying to say is, do what you believe in. It is not a must for you to belong in a religion for you to be a follower of God. Rather than what you believe about him is what he does for you in your life — that’s a full testimony about Him.
