To a Peaceful Kenya

By Idaya N. (Form 3)

Politics

This is a situation or period of time in which there is no war or violence in a country or an area. In this beautiful land of Kenya which God granted us, we do experience peace sometimes but sometimes we do not. Kenyans started wars and destroyed the peaceful environments of our lovely country. After all, they complain that the government is the cause and it should take action. For how long will this continue? LET’S ALL ADVOCATE FOR PEACE!

Our leaders never get tired of destroying peace. This has made Kenyan communities divided. This actually does not affect the leaders themselves, but the citizens fight and a lot of blood is shed by Kenyans while they celebrate in their places of parties and ceremonies, ignoring the sufferings they have caused to the Kenyans. Being a leader is by actions and not just by words. If the leaders would use words to inform the Kenyan citizens on how important being peaceful is instead of using hate speeches to divide them, Kenya would be a better place than it is now.

During elections in Kenya, it has been a norm that there should be killings every time and this makes people live in fear of not knowing how their tomorrow will be whenever the darkness knocks in the evening. Why can’t we appreciate that God created us and He put us in this beautiful motherland Kenya? This is the time that we should know why God created us and that He did not create us to destroy His creation since our fellow Kenyans are all God’s creation. Election times should be our best and most peaceful moments as Kenyans since we get to practice our citizenship and democracy and we should all be glad of that.

Tribalism has become our economic activity, racism our way of living and nepotism is what is practiced by our leaders to our youth. Why can’t we live in peace and harmony with everyone and as brothers and sisters? Kenya is a blessed and a precious gift to all of us and we should not destroy it but rather be ready to fight for peace. This starts by practicing your inner peace and having peace within you which transforms to all those around you and you will be a good role model to all the others.

Leaders should not be chosen according to the tribes they come from but rather by the good work they do and the efforts they put trying to make Kenya a better place. A leader, either a woman or a man has power to lead and what defines them is their character. Let’s all stand out and fight for the rights of the Kenyans by condemning all those who cause quarrels and differences in our country.

ONE KENYA, ONE LAND OUR PRIDE, WE SHOULD LIVE IN PEACE AS BROTHERS AND SISTERS.
