It’s Day of the Girl!

October 11th is International Day of the Girl! It’s our favorite day of the year, and this year’s theme is particularly awesome: “Girl Force: Unscripted & Unstoppable.”

During the last 10 years we’ve seen a girl—

• Put on a threadbare outfit and walk 2 hours to school everyday.
• Draw gallons of water from a borehole 6 kilometers away and still find energy for homework after sunset.
• Encourage every young person she meets to never give up hope.

And that’s before she’s found and accepted to Daraja Academy. When a girl like that receives the food, shelter, and education she needs, she goes onto—

• Break the Cycle of poverty in their family by being the 1st to go to high school and then college
• Inspire and finance the education of her family members.
• Embrace those she was once told to hate
