Loverbirds Day

Poetry
Author’s Note: I celebrate this day every year with my sisters. Even though I may be alone, it does not stop me from writing these couple of Valentine’s day notes.
Forgive me if I love you too much
And I’ll forgive you for not loving me enough.
Best friends are like diamonds, rare to find
So are you and I won’t lose you easily
They said, No woman ever falls in love with a man
Unless she has a better opinion of him than he deserves
To hate you is a sin, he remembers you, is a promise
To forget you is a crime, to love you is a compulsory right
A real friend walks with you when the rest of the world walks on you
A real friend laughs with you when the rest of the world laughs at you
A real friend talks to you while the rest of the world talks behind you
My love have you not been a good friend? How can I pay you?
You asked me, what I liked about you
And…I hesitated not knowing what to point out
And what not to
Perhaps I should have said
It is your voice…that deep well
That comes so deep
And sounds so strong
Or maybe I could have answered…your courage, your demeanor
The arrogance of a peacock, the pride of a lion
That knows how to hold its own.
Yet that would have let out the intangible you
The chemistry
The magic that your admiring eyes hurt on me
So I begged not to answer
Maybe this answer lies not with me
But with us
With the knowledge that I…you…me
Are really truly soulmates
You stood by me in hard times
Supported me when I needed you the most
Embraced me when I was so full of fear
Hugged me tightly against your breast
I felt the warmth which drove out my fear
And gave me strength, what can I do without you?
I really, really, really love your charm
