Oh, the places they'll go!
The Class of 2020 Graduates
On September 17th, we celebrated the Class of 2020 as they officially graduated from Daraja! Since arriving in 2017, each young woman in the Class of 2020 has poured their hearts and minds into studying and learning. And, they share aspirations to attend university and enter competitive career fields such as electrical engineering, tourism management, or medicine. The COVID-19 pandemic significantly disrupted the Class of 2020’s Daraja experience and they spent the majority of their last year learning from home. We are so proud of how they navigated virtual learning and successfully sat for the Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam in March to complete their high school education.
We celebrate the Class of 2020 for successfully earning their Daraja certificate. Now, these students are dispersed all over Kenya working towards their university degree or college diploma. We are excited to watch them fly!
Even though COVID-19 forced us to host graduation virtually, we still celebrated our graduates with just as much pride and excitement. If you want to be part of the celebration, you can watch the graduation video on our Facebook page or Youtube channel. Join us in celebrating their accomplishments and success, and help us wish them well in their future endeavors.
Where is the Class of 2020 Now?
Upon completion of their KCSE, our Daraja graduates are called to universities and colleges all over Kenya in pursuit of many different degrees. In Kenya, students who attend university study for four to six years and receive a degree, whereas students that go to college for two to three years to earn a diploma. Even though Daraja does not financially assist students in their pursuit of higher education, Daraja graduates generally score high enough on their KCSE to receive scholarships and government aid to fuel their studies at university and college.
The Class of 2020 was no exception. Our students scored high marks on their KCSE opening doors for governmental aid and scholarships and have already begun their journey as university and college students. Others have not officially started but intend to start this fall.
Today, we share the most recent compilation of where our Class of 2020 is today.
