Daraja is a little village – with students, teachers, staff and volunteers calling campus home. There are also as many as 25 young children – the sons and daughters of teachers and staff – living on the property. Some are here year-round, others just for school breaks. They give an incredible young energy to campus which is especially noticeable when the girls are on break.

With that many small kids running around, the new playground and swing set Steve Gaughran, Peter Rutere and their team built is getting plenty of use. When returning to campus after a trip to town, the first thing we often see is the hustle of activity at the structure – followed by the squeals, giggles and chatter of play. After just over a month since construction, it’s become difficult to imagine campus without it!
