Unconditional Love

Unconditional Love
As the last child in my family
I got closer to my dad
and closer we became
by heart, by soul, by mind.
Did everything together
just like twin cores
Travelled together
as far as we dared.
But,
there is a trip
embalmed in my heart,
never to be forgotten.
It transformed my life
and,
with time, so many other people’s lives.
It was in Africa,
such a beautiful continent
hidden from the eyes
of people with vile hearts.
This place was Kenya,
it needed so much help.
Schools were not enough
especially for the endangered
girl child.
There was a thirst for education,
that needed to be quenched.
Was I the answer?
I went back home feeling new,
I had fallen in love,
deeply in love with this beautiful
yet undiscovered place.
With the new realization
of a new place that needed me,
needed love, needed education,
I promised myself that I would go back.
And that, I did.
I came back on a new day
that had a new strength and new strengths.
Through the help of my family,
especially my wife,
a home full of love, full of joy,
better than the sweetest of wine,
full of delightful faces, Daraja came to be.
No longer a dream,
but a living reality,
a magical world
but not in a fairytale.
It is because of Daraja
creativity only heard of
can now be felt, seen…
Because of this Great Dream
of our Dad and mum
