2020 Virtual Graduation
Did you know the Kenyan school year runs January through November? In Kenya, high school seniors spend the month of November taking a grueling three-week exam; after which, their education is officially over.
Daraja takes things one step further.
Daraja graduates return to campus after their exam for the 4-month Transition Program, the final bridge between academics and real life. Participants learn practical life skills and career preparation that they can’t get from their villages—such as opening a bank account, personal budgeting, business plan writing, and more. They cap the program with a formal internship that launches girls into their college majors and careers.
At the conclusion of Transition, Daraja holds a day-long graduation celebration. A celebration that didn’t happen this year due to Covid.
You are invited to join us for a virtual graduation to celebrate the Class of 2019 (Transition in 2020). Every single graduate in this class has been accepted into college. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish!
When: Saturday, August 29 — 8 pm (Kenya), 10 am (Pacific)
