A Brutal Experience
By Martha O. (Form 2)
Fiction

I went upcountry to visit my grandmother for the holidays. As usual, my cousins and I got so excited when it was time to go fetch firewood. We loved telling stories as we fetched the wood. As soon as we got there they were so fast collecting their wood. We love competing. Before I knew it, I was left alone still collecting my last pieces.
It was getting late and I remembered the terrifying news that was going around the village about that forest. Before I even walked a mile I heard huge footsteps behind me. I was so petrified and my whole body was shaking in disbelief transfixed on the ground. The man looked at me and gave me an evil smile like he was so used to doing whatever he was about to do.
He asked for my name and before I could answer he was already violently attacking me and wanting to take away my innocence, just before he destroyed my life completely I heard gunshots and before I knew it I was lying in a pool of blood, his blood the police had been there investigating this man waiting for him to be caught in action. I was so lucky to have survived torture and the mental breakdown I would have had if it was not the police coming to my rescue.
