Celebrating the Past Year
After 10 months of virtual learning, our girls returned to Daraja’s campus in January to spend 2021 learning in person!
Our Form 4 COVID warriors and now graduated Class of 2020, celebrated their successful completion of their Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in April.
In May, Daraja girls competed alongside you in our 11th annual Race for Daraja by running 12 km in Nanyuki, Kenya.
Jason, Daraja’s founder, reunited with the Daraja girls in June after spending two years apart. The girls were all overjoyed to welcome him home!
In August, we welcomed our new Form 1 students to Daraja! They made history as our largest class of accepted students yet.
In September, the Class of 2020 completed their transition program and officially graduated from Daraja. They are now attending universities and colleges all across Kenya.
Throughout the year, our staff remained dedicated and driven in order to help our Daraja girls continue to learn on the accelerated academic schedule. We are proud of how everyone on campus has rallied together to keep Daraja running smoothly for our girls.
We actively practiced Pillar 4, to leave each day better than we found it, by partnering with Keilot in September to make our campus even more environmentally friendly. We are now using a BioGas system that recycles animal waste into cooking gas and organic fertilizer.
Our Form 4 students are in the final months before they take their KCSE exam in March. They are busy in the classroom and lab studying hard to ensure their success.
Throughout the year, we continued to celebrate birthdays, different cultures and love for sisters!
2021 has been a fantastic year filled with new Daraja graduates, new Form 1 students, and new friendships! We are excited to welcome 2022.
